Facebook ka-ching!

Bebo who? Bebo what!?Bebo's going to be discontinued...

It seems I've progressed through a continuum of social network sites. Anyone remember Hi5?Not the appalling group peddling to toddlers of middle class Australia; rather a very skeletal version of social network sites, think Facebook sans quizzes, zygna games & video clips, I know...hard to imagine. Along came Bebo with all it's whizzes and doo dangles (I revert to baby speak when I can't express myself, relying on the innate "you know what I mean" assumption) of which I was constantly harassing ex girlfriends (not serious) and made appointments with mates (serious) because apparently Bebo causes temporary amnesia of a forgotten Bell invention called the telephone. Then lo and behold, we arrive at Facebook.

Facebook - the mother of all network sites. Over 400 million active users - what in the blue blazes! Hi5, Bebo - defunct or soon to be - who is left to compete with this monstrosity of nosiness? Where Are You Now? My Space? Ummm M YAWNS.

Anyway enough side tracking, looking at the figures it would be foolhardy for any library not to have a presence on Facebook. Waffle served with a side of ice-cream.

Doff Doff...

Bring back P2P lol!!!

Have customers ever come in to ask if they could download music? Yep, I explain we have a 5MB (how big is a clear sounding music file?) cap on files we're able to download and it's reason enough for them to say ok, look at me blankly for a couple of seconds then procede with life. I'm not sure whether they do continue downloading music from the Learn.net but more often than not I walk past, take a precursory glance and see Lady Gaga frolicking on Youtube...*sigh*
